Every plant in our collection has a story that begins long before it reaches your home.
[PLACEHOLDER: Opening line that's personal and specific. "Every plant in our shop has a story that starts before it reaches you. Here's ours."]
> A note on this post: Sections marked [PLACEHOLDER] should be filled in with Tumbleweed Plants' actual sourcing details before publishing. The structure, Singapore-specific context, and enriched sections are ready to go.

Why Sourcing Matters
Not all plants are created equal — or grown equally. Where a plant is grown, how it's cared for from propagation to sale, and how far it travels before reaching you affects everything: health, longevity, and whether it actually thrives in your home.
For Singapore plant buyers in particular, sourcing matters for an additional reason: climate compatibility. A tropical foliage plant grown in a climate-controlled Dutch greenhouse and shipped to Singapore needs to re-acclimatise to our heat and humidity. Plants grown closer to the equator — in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, or Singapore itself — often transition more smoothly into Singapore homes and outdoor spaces.
We think you deserve to know where your plants come from.

Our Growers
[PLACEHOLDER: This section is the heart of the post. Be as specific as you can. Do you source from local Singapore nurseries? Regional growers in Malaysia or Thailand? Specialist growers for particular species? Do you have preferred suppliers you've worked with for years?]
[Grower Name / Region]
[PLACEHOLDER: 2–3 sentences. Where are they located? What do they specialize in? What's your relationship with them — how long have you worked together? What makes their plants particularly good for Singapore conditions?]
[Grower Name / Region]
[PLACEHOLDER: Same structure for a second or third grower if applicable.]
[PLACEHOLDER: If you source from multiple suppliers, mention the general approach — do you visit in person? How do you evaluate a new grower before working with them? Do you visit nurseries in Cameron Highlands, Johor, or other regional growing areas?]

[PLACEHOLDER: Caption describing how Tumbleweed Plants evaluates plants at source — e.g., "Our team visiting a grower in [region] to select this season's arrivals."]

How We Select Plants
Not every plant that comes through our door makes it onto our shelves.
[PLACEHOLDER: Describe your selection process. What do you look for? What disqualifies a plant? Do you check roots? Quarantine for pests? Grow plants on for a while before selling? This kind of detail is compelling to plant buyers who care about quality.]
What We Look For
| Quality Check | What We're Assessing |
|---------------|---------------------|
| Root health | [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "White, firm roots filling the pot without circling or rot"] |
| Foliage condition | [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "No yellowing, browning, or signs of nutrient deficiency"] |
| Pest inspection | [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "Undersides of leaves, soil surface, stem joints checked"] |
| Acclimation | [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "New arrivals held for X days before listing"] |
| Singapore fitness | [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "Plants pre-acclimated to tropical humidity conditions"] |

Our Position on Common Industry Practices
[PLACEHOLDER: This is optional but powerful. If you have a position on practices like wild collection, unsustainable propagation, or the use of certain treatments (dyes, painted plants, etc.) — say so. Transparency about what you won't do builds as much trust as transparency about what you do.]
Some things we don't do:
- [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "We don't sell painted or artificially dyed plants"]
- [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "We don't knowingly source wild-collected specimens"]
- [PLACEHOLDER: e.g., "We don't use chemical treatments that mask plant health issues"]
- [PLACEHOLDER: Any other practices you avoid]
---
Seasonality and Availability in Singapore
[PLACEHOLDER: Explain your inventory approach. Are some plants seasonal? Do you get specific varieties at specific times of year? Is stock limited by what growers can provide?]
Unlike temperate plant markets, Singapore operates year-round without a true planting season — which means our inventory can refresh continuously. However, some regional growing patterns still affect availability:
- Monsoon season (November–January, May–July): [PLACEHOLDER: How does the monsoon affect your supply chain or delivery logistics?]
- Chinese New Year period: [PLACEHOLDER: Do you stock specific plants for CNY gifting — e.g., lucky bamboo, kumquat, peonies?]
- Deepavali and Hari Raya: [PLACEHOLDER: Any seasonal gifting plants you carry?]

When Things Don't Work Out
[PLACEHOLDER: Honesty about imperfection builds trust. Do you occasionally receive a batch with quality issues? What do you do — return to grower, sell at a discount, donate, compost? Showing that you maintain standards even when it costs you is credible.]
---
Looking Forward
[PLACEHOLDER: What's your sourcing direction going forward? Are you adding new growers? Trying to source more locally from Singapore nurseries? Working toward any sustainability goals? A sentence or two about your direction shows this is an ongoing commitment, not a one-time statement.]
