Size Guide Tumbleweed Plants New 2024

 

Please note that planters and plastic grow pots are subject to small deviations in size of 1-2cm. Our dimensions and size guides are based on expected sizes but the actual dimensions of the product you receive may vary slightly.

Planter Style Guide

Our planters are designed and made to suit all interior design styles. Crafted with high quality, and designed to complement a range of styles.

Nursery Plastic Grow Pot
Plastic container with drainage holes, our preferred method for keeping plants growing and maintenance
Get with Exterior Planters

By standard, all plants + planter pairings are with the plants in the nursery grow pot, nestled into your choice of planter. This is our preferred method where the planter would act as a decorative planter.

Alternatively, you may opt for us to repot the plant directly into the planter with a repotting fee.

Mix & Match Planters: We offer a large range of planters for each size of plants. This makes a large amount of plants to planters matching for all home styles. In such cases, you may add a grow pot, and add a recommended pot with it.

    DESCRIPTION

    Saintpaulia, commonly known as African violet, is a popular indoor plant that produces beautiful blooms all year round.

    To keep your African violets healthy, provide them with bright, indirect light and avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch. Keep the soil moist but not waterlogged by watering from the bottom and using a well-draining potting mix specifically formulated for African violets.

    Feed them a balanced fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season to encourage growth and blooming. Regularly deadhead spent flowers and trim back the plant to maintain its shape. Keep an eye out for pests like spider mites and mealybugs, and fungal diseases caused by constant wetness on the leaves. 

    For almost a century, African violets have been a beloved houseplant due to their ability to bloom continuously with proper care. They are a great choice for beginners as they are easy to care for, but also offer enough variety to interest experienced gardeners.

    Photos are for reference. Each live plant is unique in shape and foliage. Every plant is unique. Differences in leaf spread, branching, or fullness are normal. We select and supply plants as close as possible to the product description, while respecting natural variation.

    For selected plants, do have inventory pictures available, in the listing above, check that for more accurate batch. We try to match size and overall form with our description

    We aim to have it look display ready! We basically select the best from our growers, and trim and beautify it before sending them out to you.

    However, there are cases of transportation or environmental shock when placed in your space etc. This may show up as mild stress due to transport and environment change. This is normal and improves after acclimatisation.

    Plants are supplied in a plastic grow pot/bag unless a decorative planter is added.

    Both options work — it really depends on how you plan to care for your plant.

    Keeping the plant in its nursery (grow) pot is perfectly fine. Many customers do this for convenience and flexibility. However, nursery soil is primarily optimised for growing and transport, and over time it may become compacted or depleted of nutrients.

    Repotting gives your plant a fresh start. When you choose our repotting service, we repot your plant using DTE Organic Soil, which is formulated for better drainage, airflow, nutrient balance, and healthier root development in home environments—especially indoors.

    While your plant can remain in its nursery pot initially, we generally recommend repotting within the first few weeks for:

    • Improved long-term growth
    • Better root health and stability
    • Fresh nutrients suited for home conditions

    In short: nursery pot is fine, repotting is better—especially if you’re looking to give your plant the best foundation to thrive.

    Think of it this way — a plant without a planter is a bit like heading out in your underwear. Perfectly functional… but not quite how you’d want to present it 😉

    At Tumbleweed, planters are a big deal. They completely transform the look of a plant. A simple plant in a nursery pot is practical, but a well-chosen planter is what turns it into a proper home feature.

    That said, it still comes down to how you prefer to live with your plants.

    If you want a fully styled, ready-to-display look, adding a planter (with repotting) is the way to go. We pair plants with proportion-matched planters and, if selected, repot them using our Tumbleweed DTE Organic Soil for a clean, finished setup.

    If you prefer flexibility and easy maintenance, keeping the plant in its grow pot and placing it directly into a decorative planter is also perfectly fine—and something many of our customers (and team) do. This makes it easy to:


    • Swap plants between planters

    • Upsize or downsize without mess

    • Water and fertilise cleanly

    • Refresh your space without repotting

    So yes — planters are a must for the look.
