Bird of Paradise

Bold, architectural, and effortlessly tropical, the Bird of Paradise is one of the most iconic statement plants for the home. Loved for its large upright leaves and clean structural form, it instantly adds height, presence, and a resort-like feel to interiors, balconies, patios, or entrance spaces.

Available in XL (approx. 1m) and XXL (approx. 1.5m) sizes, this plant is ideal for those who want a stronger visual feature in the space. Its broad foliage gives a lush, premium look while still feeling modern and refined, making it especially popular for contemporary homes and styled interiors.

• Plant: Bird of Paradise
• Available sizes:
  • XL: Approx. 1m tall
  • XXL: Approx. 1.5m tall
• As this is a live plant, height, leaf spread, and fullness may vary naturally from plant to plant

This plant comes in a standard nursery pot with nursery soil, which is suitable for growing and transport, but not ideal for long-term styling or continued healthy growth over time.

We highly recommend repotting for:

• a more premium decorative finish
• improved root space and support for a larger plant
• healthier long-term soil conditions
• a stronger, more complete statement look in the home

For larger plants like the Bird of Paradise, repotting makes a big difference both visually and practically, especially if you want it to settle beautifully into its new space.

Please select your preferred pot size carefully.
👉 Repotting services are non-reversible (cannot be returned or exchanged once completed). If unsure, check with us before confirming.

• Prefers bright indirect light to bright conditions
• Can take some gentle direct sun, especially morning light
• Water when the top layer of soil feels slightly dry
• Avoid prolonged soggy soil
• Wipe leaves occasionally to keep them looking fresh
• Older leaves may naturally split or show minor tears over time, which is normal for this plant type, especially on larger foliage

Are split or torn leaves normal?
Yes — this is very normal for Bird of Paradise, especially on larger plants. Their broad leaves naturally split over time from growth, movement, handling, and transport. Minor tears or splits do not mean the plant is unhealthy.

Why are the leaves curling inward?
Curling leaves usually suggest the plant is too dry, either from underwatering, dehydration, or a very warm environment. Check the soil and water thoroughly if it feels too dry. Very low humidity or strong direct heat can also cause curling.

Why do the leaves look limp or droopy?
Limp leaves can happen when the plant is thirsty, stressed from a recent move, or adjusting to a new environment. If the soil is very wet and the plant still looks limp, it may also be a sign of overwatering or root stress.

Why are some leaf edges brown or crispy?
Brown edges can happen from dryness, inconsistent watering, strong heat, or low humidity. Minor browning on older leaves is fairly common and does not always indicate a serious issue.

Why are older leaves turning yellow?
It is normal for the plant to occasionally shed an older lower leaf as it matures. If many leaves are yellowing at once, it may point to overwatering, poor drainage, or insufficient light.

Why do the leaves have marks or slight imperfections?
As a live plant with large foliage, the Bird of Paradise may show minor marks, light scuffs, natural blemishes, or small tears from growth and transport. These are common and usually cosmetic only.

Will the leaves always stay perfect?
No — Bird of Paradise is prized for its bold tropical character, and part of that natural character includes splits, slight movement marks, and evolving foliage over time. Larger leaves especially are rarely perfectly flawless.
