DESCRIPTION
While the Fiddle-leaf Fig has been an extremely popular choice for a statement plant, there is a new kid on the block who is ready to compete for the title. The Ficus Umbellata has been around a long time but was mostly popular only in Japanese culture. It features heart-shaped foliage that flares outward to form almost a dome shape. With its thin stems, its no wonder people think it looks like an umbrella.
Ficus plants prefer lots of bright, filtered light. Place the plant near a sunny spot where it can take in plenty of sunshine throughout the day. Water the plant about once a week and adjust the frequency when the plant shows signs of underwatering or overwatering.
To encourage even growth on all sides and to keep the plant upright, rotate your Umbellata once a week. You can also schedule a weekly dusting of the leaves with a damp cloth to help the plant absorb more light and maintain its radiance.
Important to know: As plants are natural products, form, pattern and colour will vary.
