Licuala Grandis / Ruffled Fan Palm

The Licuala Grandis, also known as the Ruffled Fan Palm, is a striking tropical plant loved for its broad, pleated fan-shaped leaves that instantly stand out in any space. With its bold rounded foliage and elegant texture, it brings a lush, sculptural look that feels both refined and calming.

At around 50cm tall, this plant has a lovely decorative presence without being too overpowering, making it suitable for homes, offices, sheltered balconies, covered walkways, or styled corners indoors. It is a beautiful choice for anyone who wants a more unique palm with a premium tropical feel.

• Plant: Licuala Grandis / Ruffled Fan Palm
• Approximate height: 50cm
• Grow pot size: 26cm
• As this is a live plant, height, leaf spread, and fullness may vary naturally from plant to plant

This plant comes in a standard nursery pot with nursery soil, which is suitable for transport and short-term holding, but not ideal for long-term styling or healthier growth over time.

We recommend repotting for:

• a more polished and decorative finished look
• improved root environment
• better moisture balance
• stronger long-term growth in its new home

For statement foliage plants like this, repotting helps the plant feel far more complete as a styling piece while also giving it a better setup to settle and thrive.

• Unique pleated fan-shaped foliage with strong visual appeal
• Adds a lush tropical look without needing a very large footprint
• Great for elegant interiors, sheltered outdoor spaces, and gifting
• A more distinctive alternative to common palms

The Ruffled Fan Palm is often appreciated for its wide, open foliage, which can symbolise welcoming energy, protection, growth, and expansion. Its fan-like leaves help soften and uplift a space while still creating a strong visual presence.

It is especially suitable for:

• living rooms
• entryways
• offices
• reception spaces
• sheltered balconies

For those who enjoy feng shui-inspired planting, this is a lovely option to encourage a more balanced, open, and inviting flow within the home or workspace.

The Licuala Grandis / Ruffled Fan Palm makes a memorable gift for:

• housewarmings
• office openings
• congratulations gifts
• interior styling gifts
• premium greenery gifting

Its uncommon foliage and elegant shape make it feel a little more special, ideal for someone who enjoys decorative plants with character.

• Prefers bright indirect light or bright shaded conditions
• Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun
• Keep soil lightly moist, but not soggy
• Appreciates humidity and airflow
• Best suited for indoor bright spaces or covered outdoor areas
