Bright, cheerful, and made for sunshine, the Moss Rose (Portulaca grandiflora) is a compact flowering succulent loved for its vivid blooms in shades of pink, magenta, coral, and more.

Its low, spreading growth habit and fleshy foliage make it perfect for sunny balconies, window ledges, outdoor tables, hanging displays, or colourful planter arrangements. At around 15cm tall in a 15cm grow pot, it gives plenty of colour without taking up much space.

Portulaca flowers in repeating flushes during active growth.

The flowers tend to open best when there is strong light and sunshine, and may partially close during darker weather, evenings, or rainy periods. Individual flowers are short-lived, but a healthy plant can continue producing fresh buds and blooms regularly.

For stronger flowering, provide:

• plenty of sunlight
• good drainage
• regular feeding
• light trimming of spent growth where needed

For better bud production and repeated flowering, we recommend using our Down To Earth Flowering Booster Food Spray as part of regular care.

Regular feeding helps support:

• stronger bud formation
• more consistent flowering
• healthier foliage
• better overall plant vigour

This plant comes in its standard nursery grow pot and soil, suitable for growing and transport.

You may keep it in its original pot initially, or choose our in-house repotting service for a more decorative finished setup with fresh organic soil and a suitable planter.

Good drainage is especially important for Portulaca, so avoid overly heavy or constantly wet soil.

The Moss Rose makes a cheerful gift for:

• birthdays
• housewarmings
• balcony gardeners
• flower lovers
• appreciation gifts

Its colourful blooms make it feel bright, happy, and instantly uplifting.

Plant Tips / Care

• Prefers full sun to very bright light
• Several hours of direct sunlight helps encourage flowering
• Allow the soil to dry slightly between watering
• Avoid keeping the soil constantly soggy
• Good drainage is essential
• Loves warm, airy conditions
• Trim lightly if needed to keep growth neat
• Use Flowering Booster Food Spray regularly during active blooming

The flowers may close temporarily during cloudy weather or later in the day — this is completely normal for Portulaca.

Because it has succulent-like foliage, overwatering is more of a concern than slight dryness.
