	Originates from Japan (cultivar of Chinese Juniper)
	Prefers full sun to bright indirect light. Outdoors in a sunny spot is ideal, but it can adapt to bright indoor spaces near windows or under grow lights.
	Water 2–3 times a week.. Allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings. Avoid letting the roots sit in water or become bone dry. Check soil moisture more frequently during dry or windy days.
	Bonsai-forming, highly aesthetic, Medium difficulty (requires pruning and shaping), Long-living with proper care, Popular among bonsai enthusiasts for its compact foliage and beautiful trunk shape
	Not pet-friendly — Junipers are mildly toxic if ingested by pets (can cause vomiting, diarrhoea, or other symptoms).

DESCRIPTION

The Japanese Juniperus Shimpaku is a classic bonsai species prized for its lush green needle-like foliage, graceful growth habit, and elegant bonsai form. Native to Japan and widely cultivated for bonsai art, this slow-growing evergreen thrives under full sun or bright indirect light, making it a great choice for balconies, patios, or sun-filled indoor spaces.

It prefers well-draining bonsai soil and should be watered 2–3 times weekly in Singapore’s humid weather—adjusting based on temperature and airflow. The Shimpaku Juniper enjoys occasional misting but dislikes overly wet roots. With proper shaping and regular trimming, it can develop beautiful curves and dense foliage pads over time.

While it's a stunning addition to any plant collection, it's not pet-friendly and should be kept out of reach of curious cats or dogs. The Japanese Juniperus Shimpaku is best suited for enthusiasts who enjoy caring for and shaping their bonsai—offering years of satisfaction and visual beauty.

A little pot with big presence

I bought this metal pot expecting it to be rusty or damaged in some way in the second chance section. I am delighted with the purchase I don’t see any discernable damage or rust and it was larger than expected which was great! I absolutely love it. We use Tumbleweeds for all of our potted plants and its always very healthy plants with no infestations.
