Below is a general care guide for Aceraceae plants which can slightly differ depending on variety.
Light & Temperature
Most maples thrive in full to partial sunlight and prefer moderate temperatures. However, specific light and temperature requirements can vary by species.
Watering, Humidity & Misting
Adequate watering is important, keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Humidity is generally not a significant concern for outdoor maple trees, but indoor potted maples may benefit from occasional misting.
Soil and Repotting
Plant maples in well-draining soil, preferably a mix of loam and organic matter. Container-grown maples should be repotted every 2-3 years.
Propagation
Propagation of maples is commonly achieved through seeds or stem cuttings, usually during the warmer months for optimal success.
Fertiliser
Maples benefit from a balanced, slow-release fertilizer applied in early spring before new growth emerges. Be cautious not to over-fertilize, as this can harm the plant.
Toxicity
Maples are not considered toxic to humans or pets.
Possible Issues
